CPRE to sponsor the Northamptonshire VIllage Awards
NORTHAMPTONSHIRE VILLAGE AWARDS
Northamptonshire ACRE is delighted to announce a new sponsor for the Northamptonshire Village Awards (previously known as the Best Village Competition). CPRE Northamptonshire (Campaign to Protect Rural England), will be the sponsors of the new Northamptonshire Village Awards for 2019 and 2020. The two organisations share many common values and like us, CPRE recognises the importance of community involvement as well as the care for the natural and built environment, which creates not just an attractive village but a vibrant community. Together we want to encourage initiatives by the village community and the provision of facilities for all the population. We are very pleased to welcome CPRE as a partner and look forward to receiving the village entries in the Northamptonshire Village Awards.
In addition, CPRE’s long-established Litter Heroes Competition will now be incorporated within the Village Awards and, thanks to the support of our Lord Lieutenant as President of both Northamptonshire ACRE and CPRE, will be known as the ‘David Laing Litter Awards’.
Northamptonshire Village Awards replacing the Best Village Competition
Building on the success of the Best Village competition over recent years, we are inviting you to enter your village for the Northamptonshire Village Awards, now sponsored by CPRE Northamptonshire. We have listened to your comments about the competition and have made a number of changes. Firstly we have changed the name to 'The Northamptonshire Village Awards' and secondly we have greatly simplified the application process. Villages entering the awards will now have a short Entry Form to complete and should also provide a statement of no more than one page setting out what, in your view, makes your village a special place for residents, employees and visitors. This should give our judges a picture of life in your village. The judges will then have a more comprehensive set of questions that they will be able to ask you when they visit your village to judge it. As a result of simplifying the process we hope that many more villages will enter the competition.
There is an overall prize of £1000 for the winning village with prizes of £250 for each of the different categories – small village, medium village and large village - and £250 the best newcomer to the Awards. If the village that wins the Overall Best Village award has also won one of the other categories of small, medium or large, they will only receive the overall prize money of £1,000. And with the Litter Heroes Competition, CPRE will be distributing a total of £2,000 to the winning villages and other groups of litter pickers, across Northamptonshire.
