Funding updates

There are a number of funding pots currently available that may be of interest to rural community groups:

Youth Covid-19 Support Fund:

Grants are available to community and national youth organisations in England to help mitigate the impact of lost income during the winter period due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and ensure services providing vital support can remain open. Applications will be accepted from grassroots youth clubs, uniformed youth groups, and national youth and umbrella organisations based in England.

Smart Energy GB in Communities Fund:

Grants are available for regionally based organisations that can deliver support to people who are offline or on a low income in England, Scotland or Wales to ensure they understand how smart meters can benefit them. There are two funding levels in 2021:

  • Grants of between £15,000 and £25,000 for organisations reaching people who are offline.
  • Grants of between £7,500 and £10,000 for organisations reaching people on a low income.

Minimum value is £7,500 and the maximum is £25,000. Deadline is 12th February 2021 and more details here.

Mick George Community Fund:

Approximately £750,000 available per year for community projects. They are available for capital improvement works to public amenity projects. Examples may include:

  • Village halls
  • Village greens
  • Public playgrounds
  • Sports fields and facilities
  • Nature reserves
  • Community centres
  • Cycle paths
