Rural to the Town
We are embarking on an ambitious project to renovate and restore our lovely Grade 2 listed farmhouse, outbuildings and Woodlands. The aim is to make the site a beacon for rural communties as well as a place for local communties to be involved with. We have held a series of workshops and out of this a working group has been formed. The mission statement for this project is as follows:
The project proposal is to develop and enhance the site of Hunsbury Hill Farmstead. All decisions in the design and execution of this project are taken in the best interest of the Charity and are guided by the principle of protecting and enhancing the site’s historical and ecological assets. The Project has three interweaving strands:
· It will support and showcase the work that the Charity carries out with rural communities
· It will develop the use of the green space to bring in the community from both the town and the rural areas
· It will enhance the wedding business to supply a sustainable income generation to support the work of the Charity
All three strands will embrace green technology, environmental sustainability and recycling.

Since 1977 the Hunsbury Hill Farmstead site has been owned by NACRE. Hunsbury Hill Farmstead is set in 5.26 hectares (13 acres) and consists of the historic farm buildings, woodland, nature reserve, formal gardens and scrub.
The Hunsbury Hill Farmstead project includes the restoration of the buildings and the improvement of the land so that the Hunsbury Hill Farmstead will act as a hub for the local community and a beacon for the rural community.
For the first stage of the project we held a workshop where ideas for the site were presented and approved by the NACRE Board of Directors and Sponsors and from that a working group were formed. The next stage of the project is to work with a conservation Architect to produce a feasibility statement and submit a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund. If you would like to know more about our plans for the site - see the slides below for information.
